Session Information

Everything you need to know before your first session — format, approach, fees and coverage. No surprises.

What to Expect

We provide an informed and confidential environment throughout treatment. During your first session, we will review office policies, privacy practices, and your reason(s) for initiating therapy. From there, we will identify your goals and work toward achieving them over time.

Each session is 50 minutes in length and typically scheduled on a weekly to biweekly basis. The overall duration of therapy varies for each individual depending on their needs. Treatment is tailored to each individual — although diagnosis is taken into consideration, we also focus on your strengths in order to help you achieve identified goals.

We are currently accepting new patients. You are welcome to contact us so we can discuss whether your situation would be a good fit for our services.

Our Approach

Jason Ricci, MSW, RSW Adults & youth (16+)

At SoulMind, therapy is about understanding not only what you are struggling with today, but how your experiences have shaped the way you think, feel, relate, and respond to life. My approach combines the practical structure of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with the deeper emotional insight of psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Care may also draw on emotion-focused therapy (EFT), childhood development theories, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help process past trauma, challenge unhelpful patterns, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Mélanie Norman, MSW, RSW Children (age 5+) & youth

My approach is trauma-informed and evidence-based, drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities to meet the unique needs of each client, including art and play-based therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy and mindfulness practices.

Maxime Bazinet, MSW, RSW Children (age 5+) & youth

My approach is trauma-informed, developmentally sensitive, and tailored to each child’s unique way of expressing themselves. Children communicate in many ways, not just through words, and I strive to meet them where they are. My work draws from art and play-based therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), narrative therapy and solution-focused therapy.

Children & Youth Groups

Our children and youth groups provide a supportive, engaging space to build emotional awareness, coping skills, confidence, and connection with others. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and emotion-regulation strategies, we help participants recognize emotions, understand unhelpful thought patterns, and practise healthier ways of responding. Sessions use age-appropriate play, art, games, movement, and hands-on activities to make therapeutic concepts meaningful and accessible. Our goal is to help children and youth better understand themselves and develop practical skills for managing emotions, relationships, and everyday challenges.

Live Video Counselling

We offer telehealth appointments for distant clients, or for those with mobility challenges, using doxy.me. After scheduling an appointment, you receive a link to a virtual waiting room for a video call. There is nothing to download — just use the browser on a device equipped with a camera and microphone. All data is encrypted, sessions are anonymous, and none of your information is stored.

Fees & Insurance Coverage

Services are covered by most extended health benefit insurance plans. Psychological services are not covered by OHIP. Extended health plans differ — please check your plan regarding coverage and claim procedures.

Jason Ricci Adults & youth (16+)

For Jason, the fee schedule currently ranges from $190 to $205 per 50-minute professional hour for adult and youth (16+) therapy, depending on the program (individual, first responder program, etc.).

Maxime Bazinet & Mélanie Norman Children (age 5+) & youth

Individual child and youth therapy is $175 per session for Maxime or Mélanie.

These rates include time outside of face-to-face meetings, such as preparation, documentation and treatment plan development.

Payment is due at the end of every session, by cash, cheque, e-transfer, Interac debit, or credit card. A receipt is provided for your insurance or income tax claims.

WSIB & Disability Coverage

If you were psychologically injured as a result of a workplace injury then, if approved, your fees will be covered and paid directly by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).

If you are unable to perform your work duties due to a psychological condition and are eligible for short- or long-term disability, your disability insurance provider may cover your therapy sessions. Many providers expect the client to pay up front and be reimbursed after a receipt is submitted.
